While we usually post a vendor spotlight article on Friday, this week we’re featuring a member of our team: WiscoBoxes Brand Manager, Megan.
Hi, Megan here. While you hear from me a lot, most of the time I’m bragging about our wonderful vendors and things that make Wisconsin so loveable. It’s hard to switch the focus to yourself but I’ll give it a try.
Prior to working at WiscoBoxes I worked for an international astrophysics research collaboration that runs the South Pole-based IceCube Neutrino Observatory. As the outreach and communications coordinator, I helped researchers communicate complex science topics through presentations, public events and digital and traditional media. I was also able to plan semi-annual scientific meetings in six countries. The experience working with a cutting-edge research team all over the world was exhilarating and brought new challenges every day. Traveling around the US and Europe was wonderful but the relationships formed with the people in each place is what I cherish most. Not to mention, I was fortunate to work closely with my father and met my husband, Ben, on the project.
While I loved working on the IceCube project, I was looking for a new challenge and wanted to focus my next career move on branding. While catching up with Sarah over happy hour (because we love happy hour), the idea of WiscoBoxes came up and I couldn’t stop thinking about it. The idea of putting together my love of planning, design, shopping and Wisconsin seemed like a perfect fit and I couldn’t think of a better boss and mentor than Sarah. A little secret, while I’ve lived in Wisconsin almost my whole life, I was born in Massachusetts. I love Wisconsin and really can’t think of a better place to call home.
WiscoBoxes' first six months has brought us every emotion but the best part has been the little moments of celebration Sarah and I share together—our first sale to someone we didn’t know, press reaching out to us for a story, meeting and then exceeding our sales goal and simply getting to the FedEx drop location before 6 p.m. without speeding. Throughout our launch, I also got engaged and planned a wedding. While Ben and I were legally married in May, our reception with family and friends is tomorrow, August 26. Oh, and that's our dog Chancho with me in the photo. He'll be in the wedding too and is a frequent visitor at the WiscoBoxes office.
In the coming weeks, we will use my wedding to highlight how to use WiscoBoxes gifts to thank family, friends and vendors for all the things they do to make a wedding truly magical. Keep following our social pages for more wedding gifting tips.
