Lily Bean Giggles creates adorable organic clothing and accessories for babies. These cute and cuddly items are handmade by Char Dachelet in Neenah but are loved by little ones and their parents across the state.
Getting started:
The owner and operator of Lily Bean Giggles was inspired to sew by her grandmother, “her sewing basket always had a new project in it,” says Char. After years of sewing for family, friends and coworkers she decided to open her first Etsy shop, Inspiring Dreams, in the fall of 2011. Inspiring Dreams sells wool mittens and accessories handmade from reclaimed, upcycled felted wool sweaters. Granddaughter Lily inspires Lily Bean Giggles designs with each item made by Char.
Growth and next steps:
Lily Bean Giggles and Inspiring Dreams have grown from selling mainly to family and friends to now having a small retail space, two Etsy shops and vending at craft shows. Attention to detail and listening to customers has been essential to the brands' success. Moving forward Char wants to keep her businesses small so that she can continue to meticulously craft each product.
Keeping Lily Bean Giggles Fun:
Working solo can be difficult at times so to keep things interesting Char changes projects when things get stale. She also continues to learn new techniques by taking classes, which allows her to meet new people that share her passion for sewing.
Wisconsin love:
Char was born and raised in the Fox Valley and has stayed to be close to family. Four seasons and beautiful lakes are some of the things that make Wisconsin special to Char but she particularly enjoys the peaceful respite of the North Woods.
