Mount Horeb startup’s vision is to promote small, high-quality growers, producers and artisan manufacturers who truly embody the spirit of Wisconsin, through gifts that delight, surprise and inspire
MOUNT HOREB, Wis. [April 10, 2017] -- Forty-three producers from 21 cities across Wisconsin are the first to be featured in the eight debut boxes available through WiscoBoxes, a Mount Horeb e-commerce startup that aims to share the work of the state’s high-quality growers, producers and artisan manufacturers with recipients across the United States, according to Sarah Botham, the firm’s founder and president.
“This coming together of people and products is not just about exquisite and memorable gifting, it’s about families and stories, memories and traditions,” Botham said. “It’s about celebrating the true spirit of Wisconsin and sharing it with others by sending a little piece of home to a far away friend, welcoming a neighbor, comforting a loved one and remembering that when we come together over good food and a great glass of wine there is not anything we can’t accomplish.”
Drawing on the Wisconsin experience WiscoBoxes features boxes with themes like Purebred Red (a favorite of Badger alum and supporters); Hey Baby, Baby; Here Comes the Bride; Enticing Vices (coffee, wine and chocolate); Sweet Somethings, Cheese Please and others. Each box is thoughtfully researched and curated by WiscoBoxes’ brand manager Megan Madsen, and is offered in three sizes and price points. The Build-Your-Own box gives shoppers the option to select from WiscoBoxes’ full portfolio of thoughtfully curated products to create a one-of-a-kind gift that, like all of the boxes is “packaged and shipped from Wisconsin, with love.”
“These themes are only the beginning,” Botham said. Special-occasion boxes, like those for Mother’s Day and graduation, and themes that celebrate iconic Wisconsin – the Green Bay Packers, authors, happy hour, brunch, backyard barbecue and the bloody mary, among others will be released throughout the year and are part of what differentiates WiscoBoxes from mainstream gifting. “The theme ideas are nearly limitless because the array of amazing products that are grown and produced in Wisconsin is equally broad,” she said. Corporate gifting services and custom-curated boxes are also offered.
Most boxes begin with a bottle of Botham Vineyards wine, complemented by products that complete the theme. For example, Oregon, Wisconsin-based artist Jennifer Spink of White Lily Glass produces handmade Wisconsin Union Terrace Chair coasters using white enamel glass paint that are featured in the Purebred Red box along with a Bucky Badger waxed cheese cutout, a Motion W cheese cutout, Bucky Badger popcorn, summer sausage, frosted Wisconsin-shaped sugar cookies, a Mendota candle and a handmade terrace chair.
“All WiscoBoxes are carefully packed in our signature red box and sealed with a red grosgrain ribbon. The lid features the gold starburst from the WiscoBoxes logo, and is a nod to our pride in sharing all things Wisconsin. Both beautiful and substantial, the box is designed to be treasured and used – to store keepsakes or as packaging for another gift to share,” Botham said. “The box is one of the most exquisite parts of the gift.”
